The fees we earn on business sale assignments are very small relative to the difference between an excellent and a poor outcome. When going it alone or using a less experienced financial advisor, your risks increase dramatically. These risks manifest themselves in an inferior valuation and terms, or worse, a failed sale process.
By far the most significant component of our fee is our success fee. This is typically based on a percentage of the value realized for the business and is paid on closing of the transaction. If you choose not to close the transaction, you do not pay a success fee. We also charge a modest work fee, which is creditable against our success fee. The work fee allows us to recover some of our operating expenses prior to close.
